The same technical issue meant Ash only had time for one qualifying lap which saw him line up 16th on the grid. The race started cool and overcast but dry. Some 1st lap chaos in Eau Rouge and up through Raidillion, and a fantastic pass by Ash into Les Combes and some action in the Bus Stop chicane all resulted in Ash crossing the start finish line in 10th place, side by side with 11th, after lap 1.

They continued like this all the way down to Eau Rouge where Ash backed off to get the better run over Raidillon allowing him to cleanly take 10th place along the Kemmel Straight. An incident in the 1st corner on lap 3 saw Ash promoted to 8th. However, lap 10 started a busy spell where first the recovering Tebrovsek got a run on Ash out of Raidillon to pass him on the Kemmel Straight followed by Bixby in a similar move a lap later. Now 10th, another incident at turn 1 saw Ash retake 9th place, which became 8th again soon enough when Tebovsek had yet another 'moment'.

Just before pitting on lap 19 Ash dropped down to 9th again. Ash came out of the pits in 11th but as others carried out their first pitstops he was soon up to 8th, with 7th 14 seconds up the road. At the end of lap 27 Vanbrabant made a brave move up the inside at Blanchimont to put Ash back down to 9th, only for Ash to inherit 8th place once again when one of the Lamborghini's went off at Eau Rouge. Ash took his second pitstop on lap 39.

Ash exited the pits in 10th with a little over 45 minutes to go. By the time everyone had made their second and final scheduled pitstops and 6th place Dressel had served a drive through penalty, Ash was up to 7th. He now had a long spell of just getting his head down and trying to reel in those in front of him.

The constant pressure Ash was applying was rewarded when with just 13 (unlucky for some) minutes to go 6th place Jurgutis recieved a drive through penaly for cutting the track, allowing Ash to bring home the PosPer Aston Martin in 6th place - another stirling solo drive! Positive Perception with Dunn Motorsport now sit 8th overall in the championship, just 3 points off 7th and 4 points off 6th. Round 4 will take place at Silverstone on November 6th
